November 6, 2010 – marks the 50th year anniversary of Sityodtong Pattaya, Thailand. Kru Yodtong has been teaching his Muay Thai skills in Thailand and around the world since 1960. He is the only person recognized by the Kingdom of Thailand to have a doctrine of Muay Thai. Click here for his bio.

August 26, 2010 – Professor Kevin Landry BJJ Black Belt – Sityodtong is pleased to announce the addition of Professor Kevin Landry. Prof. Kevin received his BJJ Black Belt from Renzo Gracie. He has been practicing BJJ for 16 years. He owns the Renzo Gracie Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. Prof. Kevin will be teaching Gi Jiu-Jitsu classes here at Sityodtong on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6 and 7. Be sure to check out one of his classes, we are sure you will be hooked.

August 26, 2010 – New Classes Added As of  9/7/10 we will be implementing a new schedule.  We have added Judo Fundamentials Mondays at 5, Wrestling Class Thursdays at 5 & an additonal Boxing Class Wednesdays at 5. Also the Strength & Conditoning classes have moved to Tuesdays at 5 & Saturdays at 2, prior to Fighter Sparring / Open Gym.

April 24, 2010 – Alex Karalexis aching for return
It’s been a long 13 months for Alex Karalexis. Since he beat Greg McIntyre at WEC 39 last March, Karalexis has been stuck on the sidelines. Twice last fall Karalexis was scheduled to fight, but both times he was forced to pull out after suffering injuries late in training camp. The Hyde Park native is finally healthy and will make his return to the cage tonight against Anthony Pettis at WEC 48 in Sacramento. read more

April 20, 2010 – Cote primed for return
At UFC 90 in October 2008, Patrick Cote was at the pinnacle of his career. It was his first title shot and a chance to prove himself against one of the best fighters in the world, Anderson Silva. Although he hung in there and took some of Silva’s best shots, Cote blew out his right knee 39 seconds into Round 3. After two surgeries to repair his ACL and MCL, Cote finally will return to the Octagon against Alan Belcher in a middleweight bout at UFC 113 on May 8 in Montreal. read more

In fact, the trainer of the Somerville-based gym believes the situation will help out each fighter in the long run. read more

The noises start at about 7 a.m. Even if Jorge Gurgel wants to sleep in, he probably can’t. Though others might get angry, the sound of fists connecting with heavy bags puts a smile on Gurgel’s face even at the crack of dawn. It’s a perfect way to start the morning. Fighters like Gurgel and Rich Franklin not only come to Somerville to train with Mark DellaGrotte at Sityodtong — as they did this week — they eat and sleep there, as well. It’s what makes the gym so unique. read more
